Artist's Comments

Inspiration for "Behind Bars" came from several different places...first and formost I wanted it to show the mental imprisonment we carry whether human or animal. The frustration we have and the prisons we bear are not always obvious unless we truly look for them sometimes. I like this picture a whole bunch.

My model was my own dog. Cheers!

That is incredibly thought provoking, and I can really understand what you're trying to convey, on a personal level. I appreciate someone with the insight into that kind of frustration making great art about it.

Gorgeous dog, and what an emotional piece. The expression in the dog's eyes makes me think of rebellion. Even though the shadows of the "prison" seem to break him up between dark and light, he is on his back, paws up, and he seems like he is thinking about how he's going to get out of the situation he's in.

A clever animal, who is allowing himself to look at his situation, but is already formulating a plan.

Behind the corpse in the reservoir, behind the ghost on the links,
Behind the lady who dances and the man who madly drinks
Under the look of fatigue, the attack of migrane and the sigh
There is always another story, there is more than meets the eye.
